We are pleased to announce that Felix our longest stay cat was reserved this weekend for a new home.
Felix who arrived at the Shelter towards the end of 2011 came in extremely nervous and timid. Shelter staff and volunteers have been trying to find a her a new home for some time.
The Shelter often have nervous or timid cats in need of the right owner and the team are over joyed with the news.
Anna Paint Senior Animal Care Assistant said 'It is fantastic news to find Felix a forever home.'
A stray wire haired terrier has been missing for almost 8 weeks and has last been seen in the Forest area.
The GSPCA, Commerce and Employment and local authorities are working together to safely capture the lost little dog.
Unfortunately the small tan wire haired terrier was originally part of a cruelty case in the UK and recently rehomed in Guernsey. As such the dog is extremely nervous and timid, meaning it is fearful of humans.
From the 1st April until the 6th May 2013 it is National Pet Month and at the GSPCA Animal Shelter there are many animals in need of new homes and your help.

All this week the GSPCA are in town with an Easter Pop Up Shop thanks to OSA Recruitment (although closed Good Friday).
Thanks to volunteers there are a selection of Cupcakes to help celebrate the second GSPCA Cupcake Week and if you would like to get involved please click here.
In the shop there is a selection of bric-a-brac, pet goods, GSPCA items, lots of Easter presents and much more.
Wednesday evening and yesterday the GSPCA took a stall to the Careers Show 2013 for the first time and were overwhelmed by inquiries.
Although the Shelter rarely has vacancies the GSPCA are always looking for volunteers to help in a variety of areas and this was of a huge interest to many of the visitors at the Careers Show.
For many of the Year 9 students it is the first time they are able to help at the Shelter, as to become a volunteer the minimum age is 14 years.
This meant that hoards of Year 9's swamped the GSPCA stand to find out how they could help.
This Easter and from tomorrow the GSPCA are pleased to announce that thanks to OSA Recruitment we will be in town with a Pop Up Easter & Cupcake Shop.
During Easter Week the shop will have everything you need for animals this Spring, Cupcakes to celebrate the second GSPCA Cupcake Week and lots for the kids.
Last week the GSPCA was inundated with calls of tethered cattle that were left out in the blizzard conditions.
Despite the awful weather, Shelter staff drove to many of the animals to check their condition and we reported our concerns to the owners.
With tethering of cattle being a legal practice within Guernsey the Shelter was unable to take any action other than passing our concerns to the owners of the animals.
Today between 5pm and 8pm and tomorrow between 9.15am and 4pm the GSPCA will be at the Career Show at Beau Sejour.
At our stand you will not only be able to find out about working for the GSPCA but also the many volunteer opportunities.
