The Guernsey Customer Service Awards are delighted to formally announce our 2016 Guernsey finalists!
The organisers are in the process of contacting all finalists and they invite you all to the fun and informal awards ceremony - hosted by Island FM's James Bentley - in Market Square on Thursday 7th July from 5-7pm.
In 2014 one of our team managed to win one of the fantastic awards and we have just been informed that another of our wonderful team members is a finalist.
As part of Volunteers Week and our continued recruitment of volunteers to help animals in Guernsey we greeted 12 new faces wanting to help at the GSPCA this evening.
From work experience to Duke of Edinburgh, dog walking to reception, cat pen cleaning to helping with the wildlife, fund raising to volunteering to gain experience for their CV all of the group were looking to help the work of the Animal Shelter and some to help gain life skills.
Next week marks Volunteers Week a time when many organisations and groups highlight the opportunities and thank their volunteers for their amazing support and time across Guernsey and the UK.
The GSPCA couldn't achieve all of the work that is carried our 24/7 without the 600+ volunteers that help at the Shelter and with all of our work across Guernsey.
Next Wednesday during Volunteers Week we will be holding our sixth volunteer induction of 2016.
We are blessed with many volunteers helping the GSPCA every year and on average over 100 every single week.
Often our volunteer inductions fill the room where we hold them and this week we held the 5th induction of 2016.
On Tuesday we greeted 4 new volunteers which made for a lovely group to talk to at the Shelter in St Andrews.
The volunteer induction was given by GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne which started just after 6.30pm.
The new volunteers found out about the work at the GSPCA and how to help safely.
A pack was handed to each and also a certificate of attendance and thanks.
On Saturday 7 volunteers from the Medical Specialist Group (MSG) spent the day helping at the GSPCA Animal Shelter in St Andrews.
With a busy few weeks ahead of the Animal Shelter with Spring and many fund raisers from all of our team and animals we would like to thank the MSG staff for all of their help.
On Tuesday 3rd May we hold our fifth volunteer induction of 2016.
We are blessed with over 600 volunteers helping the GSPCA every year and on average over 100 every single week.
Here are full details on getting involved -
We are always looking for volunteers to help at the Shelter in a variety of roles.
Last Thursday we greeted 25 new volunteers who packed the Shelter in St Andrews.
The volunteer induction was given by GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne which started just after 6.30pm.
The new volunteers sat in an area with two snakes in need of a home and the group found out about the work of the GSPCA, how they could help and an induction on working safely.
A pack was handed to each and also a certificate of attendance and thanks.
This week two young ladies interested in an animal care career have been helping out at the GSPCA.
Nathalie Cloarec and Tia Barnett from Les Beaucamps High spent this week working with the team at the Animal Shelter in St Andrews.
Where as many of their fellow students were carrying out work experience 9am to 5pm, Nathalie and Tia although only worked a 4 day week but their shifts were much longer being from 8am in the morning until 6pm at night as the staff at the GSPCA have to work.
Last November at the GSPCA we met Alex Miller.
Alex came to the GSPCA through the Guernsey Employment Trust looking to volunteer and help at the Animal Shelter mainly with administration and accounts.
Little did Alex know that his help would broaden to helping with everything in the office to selling Christmas trees.
Since November Alex has helped Monday to Friday each week in the mornings assisting the team in a variety of roles.
Mostly based in the office with Helen Holmes helping with the work that goes on behind the scenes.
