24 hours a day, 7 days a week staff and volunteers work around the clock at the GSPCA to ensure the animals are cared for and those in need can be rescued around Guernsey.
One of the wonderful additions that has benefited many animals at the Shelter has been our Wish List which we have both on our website and a link to an Amazon Wish List.
Since launching our Amazon Wish List in October 2012 nearly every week we have had wonderful donations from honey for the hedgehogs to heat lamps to keep those ill nice and warm.
Yesterday GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne was asked to pop along to Situations Recruitment to meet Directors Jenny Mitchell and Melissa Campbell.
Not knowing the reason why Steve made his way in the wind and rain to their office near Market Square.
Lamar would like to thank the very kind person that has provided him with his cat grass from our Wish List.
We have had another fantastic week of gifts from waterproof cameras to take pictures of the animals to meal worms for the hedgehogs and birds.
Every day the GSPCA faces challenges and to keep up with the many demands we are always looking at ways in which we can ensure we can look after the 200 to 300 animals in our care.
We never know quite what we will need to rescue or care for and that means at the Shelter we are always looking for support and equipment.
The GSPCA wanted to remind all pet owners that there is going to be a firework display at the St Martin's Football Club tomorrow evening on the 10th November 2012 and they are planned to start from 6.30pm.
The GSPCA is appealing for feedback on comments regarding how you felt this years firework displays and controls have been. Lorna Prince GSPCA Welfare Manager is on the working party that looks at how fireworks are controlled in Guernsey and she would like your input. Please email comments to [email protected]
Below is advice for pet owners.
Only a week since the GSPCA Amazon Wish List was launched and the Shelter staff and volunteers have been in awe of all of the gifts purchased for the animals and their care.
A HUGE thank you must go to Corporate Risk Solutions, staff from Menzies Aviation, staff from the Heritage Group and also Sandra and Ken James.
These individuals have helped the Shelter purchase additional scales which are vital for weighing animals on entry and during their stay as well as many animal toys and feed for the hundreds in the GSPCA care.
