This weekend why not pop to Torteval and support their annual Parish event which draws thousands every year.

With nearly 50 entries the event has been a buzz all morning with hundreds already enjoying the excellent event.

This year thanks to a GSPCA Torteval volunteer and Mr McIntyre the Animal Shelter has entered its first ever entry.

A GSPCA team went down earlier today to set up our entry 'Jessie Beagle You've Been Caged' and watch out as you're on camera.

Submitted by Steve on 14:02, 1st Aug, 2015 | 0

At the GSPCA we are currently inundated with rabbits looking for good homes and earlier this week we had a total of 42 in need.

Thankfully we have rehomed 6 in the last few days but we are appealing for forever homes for the many remaining bunnies.

Alice, Apple, Berty, Carlton, Celeste, Chance, Charlie, Christopher, Claudia, Eric, Finn, Friday, Honey, Huerbet and many more need your help.

Whether you are looking for a rabbit or can help spread the word of these lovely rabbits it would be hugely appreciated.

Can you help Monkey the diabetic cat - APPEAL for a poorly cat

Submitted by Steve on 00:02, 31st Jul, 2015 | 0

At the end of May a lovely 9 year old cat came into the GSPCA after her owner could no longer care for her.

Sadly 'Monkey' as she is called has diabetes and needs a specialist diet and injections twice a day.

We have seen many diabetic cats at the GSPCA over the years and the most famous of all is Mr Chips a big silver tabby who is doing very well in his home as we still get regular updates from them.

Anna Paint Senior Animal Care Assistant said "We have to monitor Monkey regularly and ensure she has a special food, but she is adorable"

On Saturday the 18th July the first ever animal came to stay in the new multi purpose animal welfare building.

We officially received the keys the day before and since then a number of cats have come to stay.

The first was 'Estra' who was adopted from the GSPCA last year.  Estra had been living in a greenhouse before being brought into the Shelter as a stray.

During the school breaks we are running a series of guided tours at the GSPCA.

All week the tours have been extremely popular and today and tomorrow are the last two dates for July.

This is your opportunity to visit behind the scenes at our Animal Shelter in St Andrews and see the work being carried out for the new build.

You also get the chance to see the outside of the new multi purpose animal welfare unit.

The guided tours are at 2pm and we have additional dates in August.
