GSPCA WARNING HOT WEATHER – Take care of your pets with the hot weather & avoid walking dogs during the hottest part of the day

Submitted by Steve on 11:53, 19th Jul, 2024 | 0

As sunny weather continues the GSPCA are expecting to receive calls and reports from the public from dogs locked in cars, dogs being walked on hot pavements, animals in direct sunlight, wildlife in need and we want to remind all pet owners of the real dangers to their pets and how you can help wildlife.

With the extreme warm weather and direct sunlight, dogs and other animals whether in cars or their pens are potentially in a situation where you could kill your pet if it is left, regardless of the situation.

Guernsey’s new animal welfare laws passed but could we do more

Submitted by Steve on 23:58, 18th Jul, 2024 | 0

For over 151 years the GSPCA has strived to improve animal welfare in Guernsey.

On the 18th July 2024 the States of Guernsey voted through 7 animal welfare proposals including banning snares and gin traps.

It did however not vote on all proposals. The new laws will require the 3 veterinary practices, nurses and visiting vets to be registered with the States of Guernsey.

The GSPCA investigate causes of concern to cruelty and help animals in need 24/7 and these laws are very much welcomed but could we do more?
