Dillon the cats memory lives on at the GSPCA & Guernsey Animal Aid Cats

Submitted by Steve on 16:31, 7th Mar, 2014 | 0

The death of Dillon the cat hit many islanders very hard as he was a friend to many that frequent St Peter Port.

He spent much of his time Paint and Sons' Jewelers and the staff there have received many cards and donations in loving memory of the wonderful 5 year old feline.

It is believed during the awful recent weather and high tides that Dillon may have been taken by the waves as they crashed over the walls along the front of St Peter Port.

Seal pups Trinity and Eden who were rescued after being found extremely emaciated at only 17 and 13kgs when they should have been around 40kgs in weight had a very exciting afternoon today.

Both seals have roughly doubled their weight since being rescued in January and battled off a number of ailments, so today were introduced to the large pool here at the GSPCA.

Eden now at 25kgs and Trinity at 31kgs had very different approaches at entering the pools but once in started having a great time.

Did you know today is World Wildlife Day - could you help the wildlife at the Shelter by donating to their care?

Submitted by GSPCA on 18:36, 3rd Mar, 2014 | 0

World Wildlife Day is an opportunity to celebrate the many beautiful and varied forms of wild fauna and flora and to raise awareness of the multitude of benefits that conservation provides to people.

At the same time, the Day reminds us of the urgent need to step up the fight against wildlife crime, which has wide-ranging economic, environmental and social impacts.  Wildlife has an intrinsic value and contributes to the ecological, genetic, social, economic, scientific, educational, cultural, recreational and aesthetic aspects of sustainable development and human well-being.
