Vans & Volunteers needed to help put on our Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday on 13th September and from the Friday before

Submitted by Steve on 13:16, 4th Sep, 2020 | 0

Next Sunday (13th September) if you can help volunteer or have a vehicle you could help us transport goods we would love to hear from you.

We are planning to pack a number of vans in preparation this Friday ready to drive down for our Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday from 7am.

If you could lend a van, especially a luton or large transit we would really appreciate it.

Every year it is a huge logistical challenge to transport the many tents, goods and animals from the GSPCA into St Peter Port.

Towel appeal at the GSPCA

Submitted by Steve on 12:51, 4th Sep, 2020 | 0

With over 300 animals in our care we are extremely busy at the GSPCA and are appealing for blankets and especially towels to help to provide them with bedding, to help with handling and drying off.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We use hundreds of towels and blankets every day at the GSPCA and our 4 laundry machines are on around the clock."

"As towels and blankets are used they can get torn by the animals or for those used in isolation or quarantine areas may have to be disposed of for medical reasons."

Cuddly toy appeal - GSPCA appeal for soft toys for our BIGGEST event of the year - Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday 13th September

Submitted by Steve on 12:41, 4th Sep, 2020 | 0

At the GSPCA we are normally appealing for homes for animals, but we are currently appealing for your unwanted soft toys.

The cuddly toys we are appealing for will found good homes as prizes on some of our games to help raise funds for the Shelter such as our upcoming Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday.

If you have any unwanted soft toys then please pop them up to the Shelter or if you need a vehicle to pick up quite a few then please let us know and we can arrange collection.

Can your team take the trophy off the Plough Inn?

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Once again we will be holding a Giant Animal Mascot event as part of our Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday celebrations.”

“This is open to mascots and individuals prepared to dress as an animal and play a fun football game with a rather over sized ball.”

“We are asking businesses, pubs, individuals or anyone as a team of 5 or an individual and we can make extra teams on the day.”

Last call for Stall spaces and buskers needed for the GSPCA Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday 13th September

Submitted by Steve on 12:13, 4th Sep, 2020 | 0

With just a week to go the GSPCA are busy preparing for the ninth Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday.

In recent years we have seen just over 100 stalls at our biggest event of the year but with 100 already booked in it looks like it will be the BIGGEST yet.

We would be delighted if any other stalls or buskers would like to join us to help celebrate animals in Guernsey.

This Saturday at 10pm there are fireworks that we are aware of taking place.

These take place at the Guernsey Together event at Saumarez Park.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “With fireworks this Saturday at 10pm we are reminding all pet and animal owners to do what they can to ensure they are safe, well and cared for.”

“The loud bangs and bright lights can often scare animals and we often see an increase in escaped animals during these periods.”

Huge thanks to all that supported the Bailiwick Big Day Out

Submitted by Steve on 15:42, 19th Aug, 2020 | 0

On Sunday 100’s of islanders celebrated the end of lockdown for the whole Bailiwick, and the #guernseytogether spirit.

On Sunday there was a FREE family friendly event (with donations to charity) to showcase what an array of fantastic talent and produce we have in Guernsey.

The organisers kindly supported a number of local charities including the GSPCA and it was lovely to see everyone at Government House.

The GSPCA was there with our stall promoting our work and raising much needed funds. An amazing £880 was raised and a lot of fun was had.
