Each morning this week Candidates from the 2020 Election are visiting the GSPCA.
Yesterday Yves Le Normand, Craig Bougord and Simon de la Mare had a tour of the GSPCA with Manager Steve Byrne and Training and Community Officer Tim Pellett and today was the turn of Steve Falla and Sian Jones.
The two Candidates had the chance to see behind the scenes and learn of the work of the GSPCA as well as our challenges and those faced investigating animal cruelty, neglect and other animal related offences.

At the GSPCA we are often asked about advice on feeding wildlife but how to not to attract rats and mice.
Hedgehogs are a hugely popular animal that many of us love to attract to our gardens as they often snack on unwanted visitors like slugs and snails.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We often get asked at the GSPCA how to deter rats while helping feed wildlife in the garden.”
“We have put together tips to help with helping hedgehogs and birds here in Guernsey while deterring or not attracting rats.”

This Saturday at 815pm there are fireworks that we are aware of taking place.
These take place at a private event in the Mont Cuet Road, Vale area.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “With fireworks this Saturday at 815pm we are reminding all pet and animal owners to do what they can to ensure they are safe, well and cared for.”
“The loud bangs and bright lights can often scare animals and we often see an increase in escaped animals during these periods.”
