Thank you to Carla and her facebook sales for raising over £800 for the GSPCA

It is amazing the ways supporters of the GSPCA raise funds to help the 1000’s of animals that come through our care  every year.

Just before lockdown we had an amazing donation from Carla Munday who had been selling goods through facebook to help raise the much needed funds to help run the GSPCA.

We asked Carla to tell us all about it and here is what she said -

“In 2019 I attended one of your volunteer induction evening. I then attended the cattery on a couple occasions to help with feeding and cleaning there pens out.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Fledglings best left being raised by parents and nests must not be disturbed

As a general rule, it is best to leave baby birds alone.

A baby bird has a greater chance of survival in the wild than it has being hand-reared by man as they learn to fend for themselves and how to forage for food by their parents.

Happy News – Priscilla doing well in her new home

Submitted by Steve on 16:08, 14th May, 2020 | 0

With the current challenges we all need cheering up and what better way than sharing an update on an animal happily adopted from the GSPCA.

Priscilla was adopted at the end of 2019 and just before the lock down we had this update rom her owner -

“She has been with us for nearly four months now and has really settled in. She’s found her favourite spots (on the back of the sofa in the sun or in the bay window being nosey) and we’ve learnt her cheeky habits (her slightly unladylike scavenging makes us to keep a very tidy kitchen).

Thank you to Sure Community Foundation and Helen Holmes for their kind donations to help ensure we have operational 24/7

The GSPCA would like to say a huge thank you to both Sure Community Foundation and Helen Holmes for their amazing donations of iphones to help ensure we have operational lines for our 24/7 service.

We have been running our #GSPCACoronavirusCrisisAppeal since the start of the crisis, but there are always key pieces of equipment that we require to ensure we can operate and having recently had an issue with one of our emergency phones which failed we launched an appeal for a new iphone and cannot thank the Sure Community Foundation and Helen Holmes who donated a handset each.

The GSPCA would like to say a huge thank you to both Waitrose stores in Guernsey for their amazing support and to help with our #GSPCACoronavirusCrisisAppeal .

Shortly after releasing the desperate need for support at the end of March the team got in touch to see how they could help.

A few days later we received not only a fantastic rage of fresh fruit and veg for the animals, but we also had a box of goodies to keep the team going at the GSPCA.

Since then each week we have had donations from both stores which has helped feed the many animals in our care.

With yet again a stunning day in Guernsey and the warm weather the GSPCA has had a number of reports from concerned members of the public that have seen dogs locked in cars and we want to remind all pet owners of the real dangers to their pets.

The GSPCA team have already been out to a number of vehicles with reports of dogs locked inside with little or no ventilation and had further information this morning from concerned members of the public.
