The GSPCA would like to thank Bluchip Vehicle Imports for their very kind donation of £250.

This year instead of sending out Christmas cards the team at Bluchip decided to donate the money to help animals in Guernsey and we are very thankful to them.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said 'Every penny donated to the GSPCA helps animals in Guernsey.'

'We are extremely grateful to Bluchip and thank them for their very kind donation which will help the hundreds of animals in our care.'

Is it the end of the world today? If not the GSPCA can announce we are at the OSA Recruitment Pop Up Shop until the end of 2012

Today the GSPCA can officially announce that the GSPCA Pop Up Charity Shop will be on Smith Street thanks to OSA Recruitment until and including the 31st December.

The GSPCA has been in the shop since Monday 17th December manned by Helen Holmes and her team of volunteers.

The shop has stock from pet goods to bric-a-brac, kids games to squeaky toys, GSPCA Mugs to t-shirts, cat stockings to dog cracker bones and this morning had a fresh delivery of stock.

Helen Holmes Pop Up Shop Manager said 'It's been great so far, but we are waiting for the last minute panic buyers.'

Thank you to students from Les Beaucamps High School

On Wednesday the 18th July a group of students from Les Beacamps High Year 10 organised a biathlon to raise funds for the GSPCA Animal Shelter.

Andrew Wilkinson and friends Kieran Torode, Josh Tucker and Sam Le Ray departed on bike from Vale Church and rode to the Imperial Hotel.  They then walked the rest of the way to Jerbourg Point.

They left at 10am on the Wednesday got to their final destination around 3pm.

Warning to pet owners as more fireworks are due this weekend and we want your comments

The GSPCA wanted to remind all pet owners that there is going to be a firework display at the St Martin's Football Club tomorrow evening on the 10th November 2012 and they are planned to start from 6.30pm.

The GSPCA is appealing for feedback on comments regarding how you felt this years firework displays and controls have been. Lorna Prince GSPCA Welfare Manager is on the working party that looks at how fireworks are controlled in Guernsey and she would like your input. Please email comments to [email protected]

Wish List Wow's Shelter Staff

Only a week since the GSPCA Amazon Wish List was launched and the Shelter staff and volunteers have been in awe of all of the gifts purchased for the animals and their care.

A HUGE thank you must go to Corporate Risk Solutions, staff from Menzies Aviation, staff from the Heritage Group and also Sandra and Ken James.

These individuals have helped the Shelter purchase additional scales which are vital for weighing animals on entry and during their stay as well as many animal toys and feed for the hundreds in the GSPCA care.

World Animal Day at the GSPCA was a fantastic day, lots of animals microchipped and thanks to Waitrose staff

Yesterday on Thursday 4th October the GSPCA opened it's doors for World Animal Day between 11am and 4pm to celebrate animals and hold a free microchipping event as part of the celebrations.

Dozens of visitors turned up for the guided tours, enjoy the refreshments, browse the goods on sale and see the many animals at the Shelter.

The GSPCA win a Avid Microchip Scanner in time for our Free Chipping Event and Open Day this Thursday

This week we have the fantastic news from Avid the microchip company used by the GSPCA Animal Shelter that we have been a winner in their quarterly competition for a state of the art microchip scanner.

The Avid Minitracker 3 scanner is one of the best on the market and will help ensure that stray animals that find their way to the Shelter can be reunited quickly to their owners.

A HUGE Thank You to Chaos Events, Regency Events, L H Events & the Bands ensuring we had great music for the Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday on 9th September 2012 in St Peter Port, Guernsey.

The line up included Amy & Luis, Becky and the Veggie Burgers, Le Crowman, RentOClean and Peppered Ant Legs.  Despite the weather children to giant animals danced to the entertainment and we are so grateful to all those involved.

Thank you to Guernsey Water for ensuring we had fresh water for the dogs and volunteers at the Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday

Guernsey Water on September the 9th were kind enough to supply a large container of fresh water for the Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday.

This was a great help as hundreds of dogs and dozens of volunteers turned out to what was a great day and we are very grateful to them for their help.

The GSPCA would like to say a special thank you to Oatlands for bringing along a 1950's bus and a trailer stall to the Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday on the 9th September.

Oatlands were just one of the many groups to get involved in supporting the GSPCA and helping celebrating animals in Guernsey on what was a wonderful day.
