Every year the GSPCA are called out and receive stray dogs and cats during periods of fireworks that have either escaped or run off due to being scared by the loud bangs they make.
Tomorrow as part of the Harbour Carnival celebrations where we will be with a GSPCA fun games stall, they have planned at 9.45pm along the seafront a firework display. Also in Herm on Saturday at around 10.30pm there is also a firework display planned.

Tomorrow their is a private display at St Pierre Park Hotel at 10pm and on Liberation Day Saturday 9th May the display will take place along the seafront.
To help your dogs and cats during these very stressful times we have a SALE on the Adaptil and Feliway products which are designed to appease your pets during times of difficulty.
On Friday 27th March the GSPCA will welcome Karen Green from Ceva the company that produces the Adaptil and Feliway products.
Karen is visiting to talk about the many Ceva products and their uses.
GSPCA staff and volunteers will be in attendance, and for a minimum £5 donation any professionals or pet owners that would like to attend can do so. To book a place please follow the details below.

Sadly less than 45% of the stray dogs and cats are microchipped that are found as strays and brought to the GSPCA, and even less have collars with tags.
Chloe Butt (8), a pupil at St. Andrews Primary School had a surprise last week when she was told that she had won a party for her year on the 3G Pitch at the KGV. Chloe was the winner of the GSPCA design a firework and bonfire poster competition which will be used in the GSPCA safety information for 2015.
Presenting the prize was Toby the dog accompanied by Steve Byrne, Manager of the GSPCA who commented "The lucky winner was Chloe and despite a large number of entries from other schools islandwide, it was two of her class mates that were awarded joint second place”.

Tomorrow many will mark the 5th November with firework parties.
The GSPCA have launched a calendar and ask those having public and private displays to let us know so we can have a central location for those around Guernsey know where and when these events take place. The calendar is linked to the GSPCA Twitter and Facebook pages so that reminders are sent out earlier in the day during these events.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "Every year during the periods of fireworks both pet animals and wildlife are put at risk."
This week at the GSPCA we have launched a new calendar specifically to help pet owners and those affected by fireworks in Guernsey.
The calendar has been embedded in a number of our web pages and is dedicated to being a central location to check when there are firework displays in Guernsey.
Over the last few years when we have been made aware of firework events we have used our social media to help inform pet owners to help them prepare their animals and pets to reduce their stress and problems they can cause.

Every year during periods when fireworks are used many animals across Guernsey can become distressed and there are a number of precautions you can take to help ensure that you help settle your pets.
